Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP)

Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP)

Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP) is an empirically validated approach to psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in treating patients with a variety of difficulties. TLDP is a brief form of therapy that places an emphasis on an individuals interpersonal relationships. The target of therapy is the way an individual relates to others, rather than the reduction of specific symptoms.

TLDP views current relationship patterns as the result of past relationships with early caregivers. These early attachments serve as models for how we connect with others. While it may have been adaptive to behave in a particular way to attach to a caregiver in order to receive nurturance, that behavior may now be unhelpful. If these maladaptive styles of relating to others were developed in the past, dissatisfying attachments in the present may feel more comfortable than healthier attachments.

The objective of TLDP is to help the individual shift from recreating old relationship patterns by facilitating a new understanding and relationship experience.
