Shannon Harvey, Psy.D.
Shannon Harvey, Psy.D. is a New York State licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Harvey received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Yeshiva University. In addition, Dr. Harvey earned a Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Harvey has specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, applied behavioral analysis, parent training, psychological assessment, as well as mindfulness and motivational interviewing. Dr. Harvey utilizes such therapeutic techniques for the treatment of children, adolescents, adults and families.
Dr. Harvey completed her externship at NYU Child Study Center where she assisted psychologists with creating a stress and anger management group for adolescents and young adults. Furthermore, Dr. Harvey assisted psychologists with implementing the adolescent stress and anger management group program at Tisch Hospital’s adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit, as well as, helped plan and facilitate a series of workshops for parents of children with anxiety and Tourette Syndrome. Dr. Harvey also helped with research for the Treatment of Adolescent Suicide Attempters (TASA) and the Preschool Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Treatment Study (PATS).
Dr. Harvey completed her internship and post-doctoral residency at Child Provider Specialists/Dan Marino Center in Weston, Florida where she served as the cognitive behavioral intervention specialist. Dr. Harvey was responsible for conducting behavioral intake assessments and completing functional behavioral assessments of children and adolescents with mild to severe behavioral and emotional difficulties. Dr. Harvey was also responsible for developing and monitoring behavioral intervention plans. Other duties consisted of intensive individual therapy and parent training for children with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders. Furthermore, Dr. Harvey assisted with the development of the South Florida Dyslexia Institute in Weston, Florida.
Dr. Harvey specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, behavioral disorders, as well as pervasive developmental disorders. Dr. Harvey has gained tremendous experience providing individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults with generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobia, panic disorder with agoraphobia, as well as school refusal, intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, autism, and other behavioral and developmental disorders. As a clinician, Dr. Harvey has provided individual and group therapy social skills training for children and adolescents.
